Trouble looms as a police officer in Delta State allegedly shot dead a soldier at Bomadi Town in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident, which occured on Wednesday, took place at a drinking spot in the town.
According to a credible source, the police officers who were on routine patrol met three soldiers at the drinking spot. Disagreement occurred between the sister security agencies and it was reported that a soldier slapped one of the police officers. While the soldier was attempting to take his rifle, a policeman,who had already cocked his gun shot the soldier, and he died on spot.
There was tension immediately the incident occured and civilians, who were are at the drinking spot, were reported to have fled immediately for safety.
While addressing the issue, the Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. William Angadi on Wednesday appealed to both parties to allow peace to reign by allowing the government to resolve the matter.
Meanwhile, the DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya in a telephone chat confirmed the report adding that the division is on the situation.
